Qualche giorno fa, il 31 agosto, si è tenuta la 37 esima edizione degli MTV Video Music Awards, presso il Barclays Center di Brooklyn a New York. Causa Covid, naturalmente, l’evento non è stato esattamente come le edizioni degli anni precedenti, ma ha comunque regalato grandi emozioni. L’evento, presentato dall’attrice e cantante statunitense Keke Palmer, ha visto trionfare alcune grandi icone della musica pop e rock come Lady Gaga e i Coldplay di Chris Martin.

L’evento, come dicevamo, si è tenuto presso il Barclays Center di Brooklyn, mentre una serie di esibizioni sono state trasmesse in varie location, tutte dal vivo, rispettando naturalmente le norme anti Covid. Tra gli artisti più premiati spicca il nome di Lady Gaga: l’attrice e cantautrice statunitense è riuscita a portarsi a casa ben 5 premi, diventando la vera e propria protagonista degli MTV Video Music Awards 2020.
Nella categoria rock, invece, hanno trionfato i Coldplay di Chris Martin. La band di “Yellow” è infatti riuscita ad aggiudicarsi il tanto ambito Best Rock Music Video grazie alla clip del brano “Orphans“, pubblicato il 24 ottobre 2019 come primo estratto dell’album ‘Everyday life‘. Il video, invece, è stato girato dal regista inglese Mat Whitecross e mostra scene inerenti al processo di creazione e registrazione del brano in questione alternate ad immagini di Chris Martin con la chitarra acustica e infine dell’intera formazione insieme ad un coro di bambini.

I Coldplay si sono aggiudicati questo tanto ambito premio superando i Blink-182 (con Happy Days), gli Evanescence (con Wasted on you), i Killers (con Caution) e i Green Day (con Oh Yeah).
